On December 13, 2013, players from the Department of Play, an imaginary city department dedicated to the creation of temporary play zones in public spaces for people to step out of the everyday and play in irresistibly fictional worlds, planted 50 felt flowers throughout the downtown Boston area as part of a seasonal play series of ludic interventions. During a historically cold and harsh winter, city residents were greeted by felt flowers presented as anonymous gifts for the taking.
