Co-created with Peter Coffin, Singing Tree was installed at the Wanås Sculpture Park and Kunsthalle in Knislinge, Sweden on April 20th, 2006 during the Insight Out exhibition.
This Fagus sylvatica (European beech tree)'s biosignals were amplifed and directly converted into audible sound broadcast over two speakers suspended in the tree. Signal data was recorded on April 20th, 2006 as the beech tree experienced sunrise and sunset. The sunrise data recordings were later used in Bokträd, and exhibited at the Peabody Essex Museum, Art & Nature Center during Branching Out: Trees as Art (September 27, 2014 to September 13, 2015).
