Fail Early is a critical sensing technology workshop created in collaboration with the Urbonas Studio. The first iteration of the workshop was based out of the Intermedia studio space at the Trondheim Academy of Fine Art (KIT) at NTNU and took place April 18-19, 2013. Participants from the Fine Art Academy (KIT) and the Department of Architecture at NTNU examined how responsive technologies could be deployed for speculative reasons to detect affect, breath, motion, pressure, acoustics and other senses, translating them into a series of alternative operations. Lectures and discussions offering a critical lens on the political history of the sensor as a material were balanced with hands-on, electronics experimentation labs and outdoor, sensor-searching field trips.
